Bluetooth intercoms

Does anyone have any recommendations of what type to buy.  We want rider to rider with a good range.  We both have Nolan helmets but the N com system is £400 ish

Otherwise known as FreedConn TCOM-SC

There are other versions without the LCD screen but my Mrs has just picked up one of these and is it noticeably louder than mine, which is the previous generation without the screen.
Mine is the TCOM-O2 but there is also an older version called a TCOM-VB.

They all work fine really, even through earplugs, but louder one is better if you are going fast (60+).

Hold on guys 

I thought the idea of going on the bike was to escape the misses not be bloody linked into an intercom within your Ear!  biggrinbiggrin

which incidentally is a tad tricky to remove with a helmet on biggrin

I've got and would recommend the Cardo Scala Pacltalk Bold, sound quality is great and works very well both for rider-pillion or bike to bike (line of sight in reality) . It doesn't have the range that my older Autocom had with 2-way radios, but they were running a (slightly illegal) 5w transmission power. The Packtalks are not particularly cheap and if you are running open face and need a boom mic that's an additional extra cost.

Cant fault them!
Cheap as chips, work a treat.

Simon,Clarkie and myself used them for many days, no problems. Last about 8hrs between charging.

Recieves phone calls and radio, if you really must! ;)

They don't seem to provide an intercom function Rik?

My bro' and I currently use Sena Linkin Ride Pal 3s in our in our LS2 road helmets and they work really well. However, we are looking for a cheaper option for trail riding and cycling. Can anyone recommend something please?

As I said previously. Simon, Clarkie and I get them direct from Ying tong. Excellent, do absolutely everything. Gone up a bit, about £35 delivered.

I've recent hacked mine to use an external 2900 mAh 18500 lithium battery rather than the internal battery.

Internal batteries are just 400/450mAh and after a year of use it was lasting just 4 hours listening to music (full volume as I wear earplugs).
Now, using the external battery.. I expect to get 25+ hours.

Ours are good for 6 hours continuous use at least and they are 2 years old.  Best £70 ever spent, ish

My older one would also last longer but the newer ones go louder, and my tests showed that is what saps the battery.

I have the Cardo Packtalk Bold having changed from a hardwired Autocom system with PMR radios and find it very good. I did a IAM ride last year and was loaned a cheap bluetooth set to be able to communicate with the observer, after a few minutes it was driving me scatty...... the system didn't have noise cancelling so I was getting all the noise from her microphone AND from mine in my ear....... The Cardo has noise cancelling and voice control and it just works...... I went on the RTTW with a group of 8 friends in 2019 and they all had Cardos and were chatting away amongst themselves. The battery is good for at least 12 hours, it charges quickly and you can use it while it's charging if necessary. It really comes down to getting what you pay for!

My partner, Helen Couch, and I bought cheapo FredConn units on Amazon @18 months ago for @£35 each and they have worked perfectly so far.

The battery usually allows us a days riding, no problem.
