Trees Down over lanes

Not sure where to post this as I don't have access to the Lane Clearing section.

Went out and rode a few lanes yesterday, and came across two fallen trees over lanes. Too big to lift and shift.

192-231

192-207

Just reporting on the forum is great 231 has another one down further up, I think the one you show on your picture on 207 has been down for a bit, there is a well trodden route round it I think

Is the one on 231 easy to deal with? We rolled one to the side a week or so ago.

On 206, it's a managed woodland, so I'd be tempted to just divert around, like we have in there previously.

I'll get up there and walk 231 on Thursday so we know what we're dealing with then report back.  Pretty sure you won't get round it or shove it to one side.

Went up this morning to have a look, both trees will require a special tool to remove.  Probably not that much of a job for a couple of blokes. Maybee an hours effort. The field adjoining the lane is a paddock so the owner will have access to clear up whatever falls their way.

The previously concealed entrance at the bottom end is now sporting a pull in and a gate.IMG_1928.JPG

There is is a fair bit of evidence that several people have gone down it and turned around, horses and bikes.

Hey! Hey! What a duo biggrin

IMG_7172.JPG

2x trees dealt with on 192-231 and one lying on the ground cut up and relocated

IMG_7182.jpg

IMG_7184.jpg

This is the reason for the ride around on 192-207 been happening for years because fo this tree in the way of the correct line

Plus we cut another tree further along blocking the highway, windblown wink

With our recent project in Bampton involving DCC I thought its import to have the correct line of the UCR ridden - Bennah hill springs to mind too smile

No, not Zummerset, but Little Haldon towards Ideford.

Hopefully you emailed the correct John for your overlays, John Leah?

Are the TRF lanes numbers unique or grid references?

The lane numbers are unique to the Devon Group.

When the groups records were created they chose to record the lane numbers by Ordnance Survey Landranger map sheet numbers, 191, 192, 193, 201, 202 etc, then starting at the top left corner 001, and working their way down and across the map, to make an individual record of all of them. Over time newly discovered lanes were also added, hence the numbering system can look ad-hoc in some areas

It is unlike John L not to respond to a request from a member promptly.
