After failing to get on a Doug's ride out in east Devon, the only thing to do was sort one out for myself. Steve had already expressed an interest and another not going to east Devon was John. There was a bit of interest from others but bike repairs and husbandly duties prevailed. So to quote Genesis 'then there were 3'
The morning dawned bright and clear, the low sun made spotting the uneaven surfaces hard on the run down the hill to the fuel station. Thankfully there was no Corona virus panic buying so there was plenty to top up the TTR Before heading of to Jacks patch to meet Steve
We picked up John on the way to Holbeam, there was a good deal of water in the lanes.
Steve had a go at the Hokey Cokey in Lenda lane, which is now a real challenge with some big holes and a gully. Great fun with the right tyres. My very second hand Mt43 gave plenty of grip, but Johns fresh enduro tyre left him struggling. Steve and I waited for a while at the top but when John didn't appear I thought I was going to be responsible for breaking a legend. He didn't really need my help to get going again, respect.
We dropped down into the Dart valley
We had several gates to open as we traversed the moor down to Broadaford.
Across the moor towards Widecombe.
We nearly lost John down a hole this time.
Of course we stopped for a warm beverage and a bacon sarnie at Widecombe.
The views are always spectacular Up at Bone hill.
Hound tor wood is always worth the effort.
The woods have taken on an almost tropical appearance
We were nice to a lady on the ultimate of road equipment, in fact Steve was very nice to her..... smooth talker.
We had to ride the 2 lanes that myself and Wacky cleared last week and were the first to ride the proper route at the top of 3 tree lane for a good few years
We parted at Gipsy corner after nearly 60 miles of riding in our great county.
Mt43s are great on rock even when they are slicks but not much use for anything else, tyre changing this week then.
