Just checking legality with 181 033

See attached photo is it legal to go across the railway crossing with the small gate? Been to this one and wasn't sure if it would be or not..? Thanks

No surprise really that the online information contradicts each other.

DCC have the lane across the railway as a public maintained road

PROW have it as a road

the One.Network site says the same

railcrossing 181-033.JPG

where as Network Rail show the crossing as a 'Footpath Crossing'

Google maps show a gap in the way

sorry I can't help with the crossing, but 181-033 is a legal UCR, dead end.

It's for just this kind of question that submitting run sheets/track logs is so important as the information fed back with them is used to update the overlay comments.

I'd say, then, ride it (but only cross the line if safe and legal to do so - trains don't hang about on that stretch!) then report back on a run sheet or in the e-mail accompanying a track log exactly what you found including, if possible, photos of any signs or obstructions you may find.

Cheers,
John

Is there a phone to contact the signal office beside the crossing, if so its extremely important to ring them before attempting to cross wink

Cheers John Yes it's quite an easy stretch to cross as it's very straight. So with reporting back could I send you my recorded gpx? Or does it need to be one of these sheets and do you need to include each lane number you have been on? The other thing was on my view ranger when leaning how to use it I ended up downloading the overlays multiple times so I have about 10 of each lane in my routes log making it very difficult to scroll through! any advice on how to delete them without deleting everything and not deleting my routes I have made and recorded?

No phone just signs days to look both ways etc and to anyone else using it strongly advise to go across and open both gates before riding over and have someone if possible to signal when clear.

There is a thread on this forum regarding deleting all routes and tracks from an Android ViewRanger phone app.

It's handy to do so every now and again when you obtain the latest overlays from John L.

The overlays are stored in the app as 'Routes', so deleting all the overlays at once, will also delete your own planned routes and any tracks you've made.

The only way I know to keep these personal routes/tracks, is by 'exporting' the individual routes/tracks and either emailing them to yourself or adding them to your Dropbox, and then 'Importing' them back into your app after performing the 'mass delete'.

Ohh brilliant that makes sense I shall make a file of all my own routes and delete them. Thanks for the advice
