I was a bit disappointed to have only heard his name mentioned twice on the Eurosport coverage, until the daily highlights of Stage 7,

where they aired a short feature on him. I suppose he's a new boy with a proven rally history.

I see today, Stage 9, he's lying 17th in class. That is really good going. Hopefully he'll earn more TV coverage now.

And for anyone who watches the TV show Bike World, it was good to see Neil Hawker going well in the assistance-free class.

That Dakar in Saudi Arabia would be better if so many sales people had not had to prove their worth by selling sand to the Arabs. They have too much already! It seems a somewhat monotonous procession .... leading the way-costs time...doesn't feel like the right spirit?
