Next Tuesday is the next meeting at the Dolphin in Bovey Tracey.
The last meeting was attended by 3 or 4 people, one of whom was a new member. Over the last 2 years despite using on line platforms to carry on the process of running Devon TRF, we have seen numbers dwindle to the level we have now.
For the club/organisation to carry on, it is essential that more people attend and share the jobs that are required to be done.
There is several posts that need filling but that is not my primary concern, without a groundswell of interest to share the responsibility of keeping our club going, it will cease to exist, regardless of wether a post is filled or not.
I understand that some people 'don't do meetings' and that to travel a fair way at night after work is an effort, it is for me sometimes.
It has been suggested that we need to get interesting speakers in, show films, do demonstrations etc. That's great but someone has to organise them.
For me, the greatest benefit of attending has been the sharing of information, knowledge and ancient skills by the wide spectrum of folks who used to attend. New blood is what we need, so that the old skills can be passed on and new ideas can be shared.
There is still great work being done on our behalf by committed souls who put in lots of effort behind the scenes and are the unsung heroes of the TRF, it is more people like this that are required.
If you have managed to read to this point, thank you, I joined the TRF because I wanted to perpetuate the sport/interest that I love, please if you can spare some time to help come to the meeting next week and find out how. If you can't make the meeting contact me direct if you think there is something you could do to re energise our club
Its bloody difficult to encourage people to do anything let alone pop out to lend a hand to clear lanes, repair etc...
Thanks to Nick for attending the 'Tipton UCR' on the 25/9/21. No one else attended, we saved a TTRO' I was there for 7 hours. no one has asked how it went...
I haven't posted any photos, videos, no one gives a ****!!!
Oh I had a badger moment with the dumper (Is that even possible)
Wish you success with encouraging people to help cos when you or others get really cheesed off then almost everyone will go, oh what happened mate, why did you give up or chuck in the towel
I didn't take on the roll off lane clearing last AGM simply cos there isn't the support, did anyone ask why.. Nope!
Tipton UCR East Devon, god knows what it will be like after the storm the other night
Couldn't agree more, been on a few rides, led a few, maybe more.
Joined the TRF to find places to ride, found some, shared some, discovered more, a lot more.
I used to look forward to meetings because of the possibility of being able to arrange another ride out and the promise of future fun that came with it.
Get involved and get more out of it....
The temporal rift that is Covid is almost over.
People want to get back to normal, whatever that is, while they still remember how they used to have fun.
So don't miss the opportunity, get involved, lay the foundations for more fun, more rides, more events, more stuff going on.
Don't assume someone else will do it....
