We have been approached by the British endurance horse riding association .  That's not not their name but that's what they do.

They have asked for help setting up the courses for the events (approximately 6 per year)

This will involve following a map and marking a course with tape and flags for sometimes 25 plus miles.  This is mostly on private ground and tracks, but with some on roads.

You would set up the course, monitor during the event and then break down the course once the event is over.

The commitment would be over a weekend and many people camp.  I would imagine there is facilities.

The ladies who organise these events are going to attend the next meeting at The Dolphin to explain properly what they want and the first event is on the 17th April in Cornwall.

If anyone is interested in being involved, either come to the meeting or contact me for their details.  I will coordinate the first one but probably won't be able to attend .

I would think this is a great opportunity to ride areas that are not usually open to us and also will help to strengthen the bond between the equestrian community and ourselves.

Hi that would be the South West group of Endurance GB. First ride is 17th of ApriI would be Colquite. I have offered to help at the Golden horseshoe ride on the Friday as I know a lot of the course though I will be riding the horse possibly sat and Sunday, deffinately one of those.. I have marked, competed and organised lots of rides, you often get fed from the burger van and go out and mark the course the day before the event, usually a Saturday. Then go out an hour or so before the first horse (8am ish) to check your course has still got markers on it. Markers are on the left, unless two way section on both sides. Three markers close on left means left turn, 3 Close on right means right turn. Markers need taking down after the last horse, meaning about a 6pm finish on ride day. Trf riders go out in a minimum of two to mark ( 3 is great) or Demark courses so ideally you need 5 or 6 trf to mark routes to allow for breakdowns, no shows, etc. Courses are up to 50 miles so get to do a bit of riding with little road hopefully. Useful to take a small folding saw, make sure you return all the markers (they take hours to make), and take any string you have, blue string to loop a gate shut or white to tie open, put on the day before according to landowner wishes. One of the ride organisers said they next need helpers at boconnoc but get the information straight from horses mouth so to speak at the trf meeting.

Hi, and thanks, to all who have previously shown an interest in Trevors thread.

In short, the Devon Group need riders for Fri-Sun 24-26/6/22 at The Bocconoc Estate near Lostwithiel to help Endurance GB set out, patrol and pick in their course markers on 3 horse trail routes (short, medium and @30kms long).

Camping facilities are available and we will be fed and watered (but bring your own beer!). Importantly, this will also raise funds for the Group.

For those who do not know Bocconoc, it is a superb place and we will get the chance to do lots of riding on land which is otherwise private and inaccessible, so it is a chance not to be missed!

Ideally, we need 6 riders to form two groups of 3 to do what needs to be done. We have 4 riders on the list so far, so are looking for two more volunteers, please!
