Always used to go to tillerton !
Until the tossers from "the motorcycling club" decided to pour concrete down it. Sort of defeats the whole idea of a long distance trial, and destroyed a technical lane loved by many for what it was.

What a night to have been riding and marshalling! And the wild weather doesn't seem to be letting up cry

Hats off to everyone involved.

Yes indeed, from memory I've had experiences of icy cold nights doing the Exeter but not this wet ....

Marshalled Gatcombe Lane.  I was tired and soggy when I got home at 6 am.  I haven't ridden this lane for ages and it seems to have got much easier than I remembered it to be.  Has someone sanitised it?

Hi Chris, you are correct, one week it was as gnarly as ever and two weeks later it had been flattened. Will be interesting to see how it has changed after all the recent rain...

Simms without the step after the large hole below the slab is now driveable again, as is Tipley with a deep gulley filled in, and Tillerton too. Without these patched repairs it would have taken far longer to get the competitors through or winch them back down again. Far from being flattened these lanes are still plenty steep enough to provide enough of a challenge as shown by the many videos of competitors struggling for grip.

Without the MCC repairs closures due to Traffic Regulation Orders are a likely outcome and we should be grateful to those who make the effort to keep lanes open for all.

One notable thing on this years Exeter Trial is that it was won by an all ladies crew in a VW Beetle they had borrowed.
The video of their screams of joy at getting up Simms shows how much they were trying!
