Spotted this on a FB group. Never seen one like it before and, apparently, it is or was on the Lerryn to Lostwithiel road in Cornwall. Anyone knw exactly where?
Looks like it runs into a BW or is this incorrect mapping again as it could be on a parish boundary
Parochial interests over-riding rights of way with a way changing status at the parish boundary, sort of, I recall the bridleway part as being rather less practicable for cars than the ucr south of the ford. The bridleway is not shown as a ucr on the CCC interactive map.
I looked for a video then realised I have not ridden this lane since I purchased a video camera.
The sign did make me chuckle and I have a photo somewhere but I must get around to digitising that photo collection.
I've ridden that lane before. From memory its a good lane. It gets much narrower after it reaches the lowest point which has a little water splash then it climbs upwards (hedge/ tree line can be seen in the background of the pictures that habe been shared).
My friends stayed in a quaint little Air B&B nearby and walked it with their kids (the Dad rides green lanes so he knew of it)
You can see in the picture that one of the pointers is missing and Streetview from a different angle shows another is also missing. I think this must have been due to the wartime policy of removing roadsigns to hinder the enemy in the event of an invasion thereby dating this sign as pre-war so nice it's still standing. Sad to see it so rusty and if anything calls for a bit of guerrilla maintenance then this is it.

We have a 'Failed Road' on the Glos/Oxford border which is part of the Roman road (Akeman Street) from Cirencester to Bicester built 1900+ years ago. It is in better condition than some of the ordinary 'safe!' roads in the area. Picture from GS as I cannot find my own pics.
