James Higgs RIP

The trail riding community lost one of its long standing and proactive members today.

James Higgs or Jimmy Kawasaki as you may have known him, passed away after a short illness.

I didn't know him personally but his name often cropped up whenever you read something to do with trail riding.  He was still posting on our Facebook page only a week or so ago.

Some may know his name through the TET, as he was the GB linesman and also responsible for the Great Westen trail.  He was a member of Wiltshire TRF and worked tirelessly for our sport.

Our thoughts must be with his family and many friends.

Trevor

I just read about all the work he did and huge contribution to the trail riding community which he obviously spent alot of time on and all for free. His contribution enables us to enjoy the hobby we like and continue to do so. A sad loss to all

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

His was one of the most recognisable names on the TRF FB Officers group which reflects the amount of work he did for us. He will be missed. RIP Jimmy Kawasaki.

Probably, like many people, until recently, I did not recognise the name James Higgs, but as Jimmy Kawasaki across several social media/forums,or the Linesman for the UK TET , the Great Western Trail or the man behind  Wiltshire Byways on YouTube, I was well aware of him and his work.

On YouTube, for more than a decade, he has posted several hundred trail riding videos and has filmed a huge number of our Devon green lanes, his involvement in trail riding has been massive.

I've never ridden with him, nor met him, but in my role as ROW officer I have had many 'conversations' with him, he was always helpful and enthusiastic, and his video record has proved invaluable helping me research for the GRM.

Gone too soon, but what a legacy he leaves by which we can remember him. RIP Jimmy.

The TRF have just released this video of the 2015 John O'Groats to Lands End Green Roads charity ride dedicated to Jimmy
