Somewhere anywhere but mostly Plymouth!!

can anyone help me, I want to pick up some lanes as close to Plymouth as possible, I dont have a garmin or a laptop (as yet) or even an App, I dont do Facebook instagram or any such social, is it possible for someone to just point me in the right direction? Literally tell me where I can pick up a trail that is east to follow with some common sense, any advice is most appreciated.

It's easier and safer, when you start to be lead by someone, what days of the week can you ride?

Alternatively you  could buy a map of your area and ask our map marker to put the legal lanes on for you.

What device do you use to comunícate on here with?

regards Trevor

Being new to this I can second Trevor. The GRM is an invaluable tool to help navigate the myriad GL in Devon. Riding with someone also key especially if on a larger bike ref picking it up etc. if you prefer analog you can as above use a marker to identify lanes on an OS map. Most lanes are denoted by green dots over a set of parallel black lines on the map.

You can access the GRM with TRF membership and your members number from any internet connected device via a google or safari search for TRF GRM.

Many lanes also have a description giving the planner an idea of the lanes condition. Which as a rider you can update via administrator if any changes such as timber blockage.

Its been irreplaceable for my venture into the world of GL along with meeting the great folk that are the TRF. It may be a bit of a schlep to Bovey but attending the monthly meets will open your world of GL in Devon. Very welcoming.

Thanks for the advice, I can ride out any day apart from Sundays Im trying to stay local as the tyres I have are so aggressive that there well sketchy on tarmac even my ABS is confused so have to ride permanently with it off, I currently have an iPhone 14 but this was a gift from my son rather than me actually wanting one Im not really into modern tech, I will pick up an OS Map that will give me a start,(what/who is the map marker?)

At the moment I am suffering with a bad back, I mostly ride Sunday's, intending riding this Sunday If my back is well enough.

If you are now getting desperate to get out in the lanes I can see what I can do.

As I said before not entirely sure what one of these bikes is capable of.

It's a shame, I have a Triumph 3ta that I first started riding green lanes with on my own( many years ago now), but with no suspension I gave up using it for riding green Lanes other than getting to lane clearing as it has better top speed compared to my little Honda.

That makes two of us with a bad back! Probably lifting these heavy bikes.. it is a very capable bike, I am very impressed with its handling not what I expected very linear power very different from my 690, I am fortunate to have a good friend who let me use his farmland but the goats have had enough so its time to venture further and let the goats get some grass back not that they eat it, to fussy. Sundays is the one day Im usually chilling with family but any other day Im good

been looking into the OS maps app for iPhone and been watching some user guides on YouTube all of them use a laptop or computer to load onto the phone, is it possible to use the app without a laptop/computer and navigate straight off the phone?I know this question should be in the technical section really
