Most of you will know I'm a Honda man, so I want a small TET friendly bike for group or solo camping or B&B trips, but which Honda - 250L, 250Rally, 300L, 300 Rally, any thoughts?? And what extras are needed? Rally raid clutch? Etc etc
Why is the Rally Raid standard clutch conversion considered an upgrade to the Honda slipper clutch?
Just curious as generally you would fit a slipper clutch as an upgrade to a standard clutch.
Definitely 300L if Your tall like I am the tanks on the Rally will give you hip ache its the same on the world raid version of the T7 the tanks flare out to rapidly and are uncomfortable much more pleasant on the standard models on both the yam and Honda, this is just a small but very overlooked issue but I would say important if your covering distances
Just done Cornish section of TET on my Fantic 250 and apart from a broken quick link on chain went banger .
Check previous Trail mag review of it.
Long service intervals, no need to update rear suspension. Can lift it up on your own. Cheap if found used. Slim. Tanks smaller than 300L though giving 80 miles range in TET like conditions. Seats remarkably comfy. Fellow Crf riders had aching bums after 8 hr days in the saddle. Im 6ft 2inch So do get cramps.
Check also the Voge 300. Under £4K new and already ready to go. Chinese. But then lots of engines now built in China. Check Nathan the postmans reviews.
Just a thought; there are not many long service interval lighter trail bikes that are suited to GL and longer routes like TET.
Rest seem to be MX bikes with 10 hr service intervals.
Can definitely see the appeal of a Honda trail bikeeven after waterlogged they fire up as if nothings happened after a service
Good luck with the search
