Monthly get together at the Dolphin, Tuesday 14th January, Navigation evening

This months gathering at the Dolphin will be an evening based on navigation around the lanes.

Hopefully there will be some expertise, or at least some in depth knowledge, on what people use for electronic or indeed traditional mapping.

If you are new to trail riding, someone who wants to change to another system, a luddite, or just someone who needs some extra help to get to the next level, this could be for you.

Bring your current set up, lap top, phone or bag of OS maps and join in.

I am hoping that some of our established and seasoned users will bring their kit and be prepared to share their experience.

I am OK with memory map and Alpine quest.

Join us for food at 1900hrs then in the meeting room upstairs from 2000hrs

Trevor

THIS EVENT HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED AS THE DOLPHIN HAS BEEN CLOSED.  unfortunately I have only just found out and have not been able to find a replacement venue.

I'll have my laptop running Memory Map with the Devon Group overlays. Also an Android phone running Memory Map and Memory Map for All apps, again with the overlays displayed.

I can also show the recording of gpx track logs that you can then email to John Leah for our User Evidence records.

I can also load older Memory Map maps for anyone who chooses the cheaper Alpine Quest android phone app.

I can also demonstrate GRM and the information it contains

Hi Trevor,

This is exactly what I need, as Im struggling to understand Memory map, and Ive somehow lost the edit track notes that display when you click on a track. Unfortunately Im away on that Tuesday, so will miss the session. Maybe we could catch up when Im back in about a month.

Thanks

Dont forget, this is tomorrow evening, please come and help if you have some skills in one of the programmes or apps that we commonly use.  Bring your tech and spread the knowledge.

Do they have a meeting room separate to the bar

They do have a separate dining area away from the bar that could be utilised for the purposes of our meeting. We often eat here before meetings at the Dolphin (as it's much better food!) and that area is usually closed off in the quieter months but in the busier summer months it's likely open to customers so this may not be an 'all year round' location option for us. Worth an ask though (this is where the DTRF meetings used to be held when I joined many moons ago ...... although it's likely different owners now with a different client base as it's a good foodie pub now not just a local boozer)
