More works completed on 'Ham lane' yesterday evening, 3 hours in all, a HUGE privilege to volunteer along side these guys, they work like Trojans, deepest respect 

Volunteering works competed - 

More in-fill to a digger track, buckets of stone inserted into & behind, more weld mesh added 

Unearthing an old sleeper (not one we put in) from the steam, washed down 

Re worked the slope out from the stream, in- fill material building up the surface

Re arranged the concrete slabs that are in the stream, lying in an awkward position 

Re-working the Devon shovel so I could have better capacity for digging, nice to have friends 

Another digger track re filled after the winter storms 

Surface re-worked and restored 

Erosion taking place nicely, opposite the digger tracks & other places on the streams outside bend 

The lovely gully re filled on the exit/entrance of the stream 

Re-worked the concrete in the stream to make a more rideable route 

Two lumps of concrete rearranged in the stream, they were sticking up on there edge

Stream gully re-filled 

Adding more weld mesh to the already successful digger tracks 

In -filling the gully

John, Mark, Tim & myself took the Ham lane project a lot further on Tuesday evening, two more digger tracks to the lane plus another in site, two inserted on the bank to the northern side. One digger track dug in on the opposite bank, forming abutments for the pending sleepers 

The guys put in a big shift carrying up digger tracks from the lower end of Ham and moving barrow loads & bucket loads of stone, there's only 10% of the roads surface left in a few places the rest of the width is water. 

Huge thanks to the guys, thats five sessions completed in June, every Tuesday evening 

2 more digger tracks inserted 

one digger tracks inserted & tons of stone to help raise the surface & prevent wash out occurring down through the road.

Tim never stops nor has he missed an evening session - thanks mate...

10% (if your lucky) left of the roads surface

7th session on Ham lane 14/7/26

six more digger tracks delivered to the ham lane ready for Saturdays big push 

Barky & I strimmed a fair portion of the lane/green road, just over half way from the Eastern end but that is most of the foliage sorted, few low branches that need sorting and the dead rotted tree.

The 'golden moment' came as we were unloading the gear the landowner turned up in his trusty VW estate, asking if he could get through to his field, my eyes popped up, got my attention now! which field is yours mate...that one there, cool I said, why he replied, cos I need a favour... 

So a plan was hatched, mutual respect given & he's a motor cycle owner x3 greedy that is 

Anyways good volunteering achieved last night with Barky - thanks mate

Pivotal moment actually Ray. 

Nasty bit of work is Mr Parises, the previous guy I spoke to back in 2022, he led me to think he owned the field to the left of ham. He was renting it for hay & grazing 

He denied us access back then in 2022, he's also the one responsible for the illegal wooden gates at the top end of Ham, they cross the green road and are always open to allow the animals to run from field to field, whilst this shuts off access to ride Ham lane un-interrupted....the local councillors at the time weren't happy...

Anyways we've made contact & chatted to our new mate 'Hugh' did I tell you he has motorcycles to? he wants to ride Ham lane 

A reply from Ros Davies whilst in communication I slotted in we we're back in 'Ham lane' Dalwood volunteering, probably the most enthusiastic person in the world of Devon county Pro rights of way team! always chatted & supported 100's of people through out Devon in volunteering on the network

Great to hear about Ham Lane a blast from the past!  Well done all of you with all your efforts on Tuesdays and over the weekend.  Great to know you have managed to secure better site access, that is good news!
