This was in this weeks MCN at the Milan show and looks like its coming to the UK at a price of less than £3,500. See article top right corner of news paper "More Tokyo Stars"
The yellow bike is a rework of the Honda 250 zoomer ( a beefed up version of the 50cc zoomer. They made a military version which filtererd onto the USA market.
Looks like something lego would make but I like it.
2 years ago Honda said they were laucnhing the XR250L, a fuel injected low power version of a CRF250 designed to replace the no-longer imported CRF230.
Then, for whatever reason, they decided against it.
This looks like the bike I saw back then but with a CRF moniker.
Agree the red and black combo looks nice.

Described as the SUV motorcycle, the Yamaha XTW250 RYOKU was designed to carry heavy loads for both on and off the road. The concepts name suggests it may share elements of Yamahas XT250 and TW200 dual sports. In fact, the fat front tire, wheels and forks look almost identical to those on the TW200 while the shape of the fueltank resembles that of the XT250. Throw in a bit of the Honda Ruckus voila, the Yamaha XTW250 RYOKU.
Yamaha hasnt revealed any specifics, but does describe features such as a low-mounted large-capacity fuel tank, chassis guards, removable LED lights, and a low center-of-gravity high-load rear carrier.
I note this bit with interest "designed to carry heavy loads" as that sounds good being a pie fan
That's boody heavy compared to about 105kg for the CRF230 it's supposed to be better than. And with road gearing and asteady 37mph, most small capacity four strokes would be able to get 100mpg. On really low gearing and varied riding I still get 70-80mpg.
Nice to have a rear disc brake at last. Shame it seems to weigh 35kg

Been looking at the new crf250l and looks good and the ride height looks like something that i could atually get as the wr's and ttr's are all to high for me
Good price and its a honda but I can't get over the 144KG weight and that alone would stop me getting one thats the reason I flogged the Raid.....
Its almost the same as strapping 2 x bags of cement on the KTM - no really - as I recall the KTM is about 100KG (and thats before several bits of it fell off).

Not a problem if you don't fall off jt
Also it's about the same weight as a TTR or WR250R which are also genuine trail/road rather than enduro bikes.
I thought that was the game, no one ever told me you were supposed to stay on falling off always gets the laughs, just watch one of Petes vids he loves falling off

That's 22kg's heavier than a XR250R

So many roads........................So little time
In general, never buy the 1st generation of any bike (or car).
Any real world problems are usually sorted by 2nd gen & in general things are held back on 1st models so they can introduce the 'new & improved' model later.
Your WR250R, is it a first generation? ..and why are you already looking at a replacement Steve (or would it be in addition to it)?
As the owner of a first generation I can tell you that subsequent models (or just later years) can also go the other way, they can get "cheaper" as the manufacturer starts to look at cutting the manufacturing costs and standardising common components etc.
Your WR250R, is it a first generation? Mine is a year newer than the first ones over here, also with 3 years use & full dealer history before I bought it any original problems would have hopefully been sorted ..and why are you already looking at a replacement Steve (or would it be in addition to it)? I'm not really but I do like the look of it especially in red & black.

I think it would be a safe buy in that pretty much all of the components are off Honda's existing parts rack - all well and truly tested bearing in mind the huge volume of sales
Honestly..... I think the WR250R is a better bike. Steve, keep what you've got now.
The CRF250L is a really nice looking bike but I think is more a competitor for the 2010 KLX250 but as the KLX is lighter (138 kg) it probably wins - both are heavy weights though (wet weight) and it's not even as if either of them have substantial tank capacity. Granted they can go a long way on not much fuel but they are still pretty heavy for a small capacity bike (and this is coming from a DRZ owner - the kettle IS calling the pot black!) CRF250L spec
Now I know it's not all about how much a bike weighs, it's how heavy it feels to ride (and pick up) so maybe that is where the Honda will redeem itself.
when they stop needing so much maintenance, and drinking so much fuel, and covering everyone in so much smoke... lol.
Rich
Next couple of years will see a surge in 2t bikes Maintenance, yep I'm the only person I would buy a bike from £200 approx every 2 years sounds good to me 4t rebuild £?????
And to be fair not many run TTRs Sorry was comparing enduro 4t with similar 2t. Sure TTRs/ Wr/ drzzz have long service intervals and are more road based, But my GasGas is used for pure fun, for a small part of the week, the more involving the riding experience the better .
Had my current CRF450X for just over three years change the oil and filter very regularly and keep the air filter clean, check the valve clearances occasionally but have never needed to adjusted them. It will need a rebuild one day but by then I will have saved that money by using less petrol than a 2t and don't have to carry any oil around or breath any of that smoke in remember we are not top flight riders well I don't profess to be we all use them for maybe a few enduros and a bit of laning NOT RACING. Don't believe all the manufacturers maintenance schedules mine says something silly like new piston after 15 hours And because its RED it dosen't go wrong, WELL NOT YET ANYWAY
Well I've watched the vid looks a nice bike but sounds a bit gutless on the road second hand make a nice traily after bars have been changed tyres replaced and ecked a little bit more steam out of the motor ,it's a Honda and should be well put together but ! Is it any better than a second hand 2004 wrf Yamaha or Honda crf ?

Fuel consumption between large 4t & 300 2t bout the same Had a 450 4 t as laner, not the best machine for job In hand . XR 250 was ace, but died in north Devon , poss casting fault on kickstart casing ( hence later models electric start only) Honda eh!

I rode a 2011 KLX250 in and around the jungles of Thailand last year, overall I'd say it's a nice traily but after a week of 6 hour riding you find 138kg seems doubled and the suspension lets you know it, upper body strengh is needed if you keep picking it up often, seems top heavy and under sprung with rubbish tyres for anything but Tarmac, very good fuel injected tame/predictable engine which didn't miss a beat even after 'submarining' it a few times! two punctures ,1 snake and a lost piece of plastic off the side of the fuel injector body after 600kms, let's see if the Honda measures up? Both too nice to ride laning I'm sure
