What does everyone use for tieing down bikes in vans/trucks? What is best? Any product to avoid? Thanks

Hi all, well I've gone and got myself a F650GS and it has a rack but not one I can put my Givi Top box on. Now the Givi 'arms and plate' is £80!! surely I can can get something 'made up' for less than this, anyone any ideas or recommendations?
